Four self-governments established the European Common Future Building European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability (henceforward: European Common Future Building): Medgyesegyháza, Medgyesbodzás, Pusztaottlaka (Hungary), Kürtös (Curtici) (Romania). The EGTC was registered in 2012 October by the Metropolitan Tribunal.
Overall goal of the Cooperation, in order to strengthen economic and social cohesion, to promote the cross-border cooperation in the administrative area of the members, to raise awarness towards the region and its developing programs, in addition to help the sustainable development of the area.
Strategic goals of the cooperation:
– development of common regional development plans, project development and implementation of projects;
– creation and operation of common institutions supporting cooperation and sustainability of the projects;
– cooperation in the interest of tourism development: joint product development, development of tourism infrastructure, joint marketing;
– joint touristic management.
Short introduction about the EGTC’s settlements:
Medgyesegyháza is situated in Békés county, in the Mezőkovácsházi sub-region. We can find one of the best quality farmland of the country at the outskirts of the town. The agriculture is the most dominant in the town since centuries. Peanuts, tobacco, watermelon cultivation brought it honourable mention. In the last decade, Medgyesegyháza became domestic „market leader” in the area of watermelon cultivation. The town is in a traffic shadow position like the other settlements at the south part of the county. Not available in either first or second-class trunk roads.
Pusztaottlaka is situated in Békés county, in the Mezőkovácsházi sub-region. Settlement is lying between Medgyesbodzás és Medgyesegyháza, eastwards from Orosháza. Village has three parts: next to csabaszabadi road Petőfi line and Tökfalu, and central part of the village is Bagófalu.
Beside agriculture, different types of the tourisms are dominant (program tourism, active tourism and rural tourism).
Medgyesbodzás is situated in Békés county, in the Mezőkovácsházi sub-region. Settlement is lying between Csanádapáca és Medgyesegyháza, eastwards from Orosháza. The present-day Medgyesbodzás was established in 1857 as a gardener village, it preserved its image till today.
The founder inhabitants were Catholic tobacco growers. The church of the town was built in 1873, whose ceiling and wall paintings are unique around here.
Kürtös (Curtici) is situated at the west part of Romania, its area is 101,99m2. The town is 17 km from the administrative centrum of the county. It is situated 15 km from Arad.
In the last time it was a positive impact to the town’s economy, that it has good relations with the major cities such as Arad, Timisoara and Oradea. The geographic location is extremely favorable.
